Unit of Inquiry (Week 4-5)

	Week 4- Comprehension: April 25th- 29th	Teacher Notes
Activities	First, I started to research and make a planning sheet on my topic. Ms.Dianne explained us to do it on the board how to construct and conduct a survey. I wanted to gather information in a survey from my friends at SWA.	Great descriptive writing and very informative

Completed Task	I finished making my planning sheet and survey. Then I emailed it to my friends  and I got many different answers that I didn’t expect. I appreciated my friends’ help in providing me with the opportunity to collect this important data.	Yes I enjoyed completing your survey too.
Resources	Here is the website that I found for my topic. It was really helpful and it helped me to understand further about how to write good essays.	Yes I would also like to improve my writing.

	Week 5- Application May 2nd- 6th	Teacher Notes
Activities	Completed a chart using the data collected from my survey. I examined the answers and patterns and illustrated my findings in a table.	Well done you are working to your plan and timeline.

To Do List	Ms Dianne has asked me to analyse my findings on a personal level. Reflection On Weeks 1 - 5 (ESL)

During the past 5 weeks I have created 2 tasks on my topic “How can I use my learning style to develop strategies to improve my writing?”

First I researched using the net and found an article that provided background information to help my understanding of the issues related to how I write good essay and use good grammar in right place.

With this information I created a summary in the topic and posted this on my blog page. This helped my understanding and provided me with more information to move to the next stage on Blooms.

During the “comprehension” stage I created my second task. I create a survey on how people learn and sent it to all my friends at SWA. I then embeded a visual snapshot to show audience my understanding of the topic. We were asked to record our summaries as a video and embed the file into our blog page to demonstrate our oral language skills and ability to mast intonation and expression. I found this difficult to do at first but Nini, Jaeseung, Fransisca and Katty were able to assist me and I really appreciated with their cooperation. I was pleased with the final product.

Now I am preparing for the next stage of Blooms “Application” and I am deciding how I will design my next task that could include: an interview, a simulation, a presentation using IT tools and illustration.

Standard and Criterion Met	Here I wrote a post about writing skills and I used new Vocabulary like the word whisk and more. This is an example of criterion C	I enjoyed reading your post and I added a comment.
Bloom’s Taxonomy	Here I wrote a post about Bloom’s Taxonomy and I answered questions, which Ms.Dianne provided me to do about “The Outsider” and we discussed about vocabulary, which is related to Bloom’s Taxonomy.	A great post and this really demonstrated your understanding of Blooms.
Approaches to Learning	I wrote a summary to show my understanding of the article.	Well done!

How can I use my learning style to develop strategies to improve my writing?

·       Using many media (newspaper, magazine, articles, TV, radio, website, dictionary and etc.)

·       Try to write essay many times as practice and important to read many articles, which helps us improve in writing skills such as newspaper and editorial.

·       To improve my vocabulary, I just have to memorize many words as many as I possible. Using variety techniques (Using paper, peer, machines and etc.)

·       Computer-assisted language learning.

Whether we succeed or fail depends on influencing by your mental attitude. You have to try hard on writing and have to write it in correct form.

First, when we start writing, we have to have an idea or thought on what we want to write about. Furthermore, it is really important to consider writing on something because it expresses what we are passionate about and how knowledgeable we are. You shouldn’t be bored with your topic in order to not to get in difficulty when writing your book.

The subject for your book probably influences the style of the writing you choose. You have to get as much content, which relates to your subject as you possibly can. It will help you give more information and will give you the chance to take note of different styles of writing – casual, conversational, technical and dramatic. Every subject has a different style of writing and you have to use appropriate writing style for your subject.

By using a good mental attitude, good writing style for subject probably helps you to develop your skills and make your own individual writing skill it also helps to improve your writing skills.
